Management Training Certificate Program to launch January 2010 

CAWP has created a new online management training program for the Wood Manufacturing Council. The program consists of 8 web-based modules on: Quality Management & Control; Sales & Marketing; Business Finance & Investment Evaluation; Production Planning; Human Resources & Safety; New Product Development; Factory Layout & Equipment Justification; and Supply Chain Management. Each affordable course module can be taken on a part-time basis over six weeks, and has been designed specifically for the wood products industry. The training courses make extensive use of case studies and industry examples. As this years president of the Atlantic Chapter of the Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada it gives me great pleasure to announce this upcoming event. On April 9th, 2010 at the Pier 21 banquet room, we will be celebrating “Excellence in Architectural Woodwork”. This will be an opportunity to acknowledge those Architectural Design firms and individuals, General Contractors and Architectural Woodworkers who design and build the highest quality woodwork projects in this region. Firms and individuals will be given the opportunity to submit their projects shortly in different categories on the AWMAC Atlantic web-site, www.awmac-atlantic.ca. The winners will be selected by an independent panel of judges. Awards of Excellence will be presented in the various categories to the Designers, Woodworkers and General Contractors who have demonstrated the highest standards in design and construction. 

This is the first time we have attempted an awards banquet and it is our desire that this will be a regular event. The evening will begin with a meet-and-greet time followed by a banquet, entertaining speaker and a dance featuring a top local band. 

We expect this will give everyone the opportunity to showcase their work as well as plenty of networking opportunities during the evening.
